As night falls, the LED streetlights on both sides of Hubei East Road in Yanqing District, Beijing, illuminate the road with a soft, even glow, making it clear and bright. "This road is much brighter than before, and I feel much more at ease taking a walk at night," said Ms. Zhang, a resident of the Hubei community. Recently, the overhead power line burial and streetlight renovation project on Hubei East Road, organized and implemented by the Yanqing District Urban Management Committee, was completed. 67 new LED streetlights were installed on the south side of the road, and the original 54 high-pressure sodium lamps on the north side were all replaced with LED lamp heads, achieving full lighting coverage along the entire road.
Hubei East Road (from Guichuan Road to Guishui North Street) is adjacent to the Yanqing Gymnasium, Sports Park, and Hubei community, serving as an important thoroughfare for residents and vehicles in the surrounding area. Previously, due to the presence of 10kV overhead power lines, the south side of the road was unsuitable for streetlights due to cable height restrictions; the existing streetlights on the north side were old and inadequate, causing inconvenience to nearby residents.
The project first involved burying the overhead power lines on Hubei East Road. The cables that previously spanned the road were systematically moved into underground manholes, making the road surface cleaner and improving the reliability of power supply along the route. Following this, new light poles were erected on the south side, and the old high-pressure sodium lamps on the north side were all replaced with new lamp heads. Now, the streetlights are evenly and softly lit, and visibility is much better.
