Recently, Dadong Village in Jinji Town, an old revolutionary base area in Luoding City, Yunfu, Guangdong Province, welcomed a heartwarming and practical initiative-100 solar streetlights have been fully installed and officially put into use. The once-dark rural paths are now illuminated with warm light, fundamentally ending the days when villagers had to "navigate in the dark." This has enabled over 1,800 residents across 432 households to travel with confidence and safety.
In the past, Dadong Village had relatively weak infrastructure with insufficient nighttime lighting coverage, making evening travel inconvenient and posing certain safety risks. To address this, the China Unicom Yunfu Branch's first secretary stationed in the village conducted on-site research and visits, accurately identifying this urgent need and designating the "rural lighting project" as a key annual public welfare initiative. The project utilized special China Unicom assistance funds to prioritize the installation of 45 solar streetlights along the village's main roads and public activity areas. Additionally, China Unicom Yunfu Branch strengthened coordination with the town-assistance and village-support work team, successfully securing a donation of 55 streetlights from a caring enterprise.
Through multi-party collaboration and efficient execution, lighting was fully activated on the main sections of four natural villages in Dadong Village-Shengtang Yi, Songgangjiao, Shuiyan Yi, and Shuiyan Er-just in time for the 2026 Spring Festival. All 100 streetlights have now been installed, inspected, accepted, and handed over for use.
In recent years, China Unicom Yunfu Branch has remained committed to its mission of providing assistance, precisely matching the needs of Dadong Village residents. In 2023, it launched the "Youth Drowning Prevention Project" at Shizitou Reservoir in Dadong Village, establishing a comprehensive intelligent monitoring and protection system to safeguard young lives. In 2024, it built the "Video Cloud Platform Forest Fire Prevention Video" project in the main forested areas of Dadong Village, leveraging intelligent AI technology to achieve coordinated human and technical monitoring, thereby strengthening the ecological security barrier. In 2025, focusing on villagers' difficulties traveling at night, it collaborated with a caring enterprise to install 100 streetlights, achieving full lighting coverage on the main roads of natural villages. From "protecting lives" to "building barriers" and then to "lighting the path," China Unicom has invested a total of approximately 288,000 yuan in assistance funds, continuously enhancing villagers' sense of gain, happiness, and security, and injecting solid central state-owned enterprise strength into the rural revitalization of Dadong Village.
