Since March of this year, the Nan County Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau, guided by community needs, has carried out targeted lighting improvements in six narrow alleys and streets in the county center, including Baichuan Road, Tahu Road, and Songtian Road. Currently, all 96 newly installed streetlights are operational, benefiting over 2,000 households in the surrounding area.
During their grid visits, staff from the Nan County Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau's Streetlight Management Office discovered that sections of the city, such as Songtian Road and Yangshushan Lane, had lighting blind spots due to tree shading and narrow alleyways. This was particularly true around the building materials market and Guihuayuan School, where mixed traffic was common, posing a significant safety hazard.
Through community-wide resident discussions and on-site light measurements, the Nan County Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau identified six priority locations for renovation and established a dynamic list of problematic streetlights. Differentiated solutions were implemented based on the characteristics of different road sections: on Songtian Road, two-meter extended booms were used to penetrate the dense tree canopy; along the road leading to the building materials market, high-power, high-brightness LED streetlights were installed; and in the narrow alleys of the residential area, short-arm, warm-beam, low-power streetlights were used. Furthermore, during the construction process, the locations of 12 distribution boxes were optimized to facilitate future maintenance.
Next, the Streetlight Management Office of the Nan County Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau will establish a "Lighting Index" evaluation system and launch a 24-hour lighting hotline. The plan is to complete the lighting renovations on the remaining seven back streets and alleys within the year, allowing residents to return home with peace of mind.
