Sony (China) Co., Ltd. collaborated with Epic Games to launch a new virtual production tool suite on November 26. This package includes camera and monitor virtual production plug-ins and virtual production color calibration tools, aiming to optimize the film and television production process and improve creative efficiency.
After more than half a year of testing, the first official version of this new toolset is now available for free. Users can download and use it from Sony’s official website. The toolset, which works with Sony VENICE, Crystal LED and other HDR-enabled LED products, is said to improve performance and help solve common virtual production challenges such as color matching and moiré to enhance visual effects.
Take the Camera and Display Plugin as an example. This is a plug-in for Unreal Engine that can help the production team discover and solve common problems in the virtual production workflow. At the same time, it is also important to correct the color for virtual production before shooting, which can save post-production work and adjust the LED color in advance to save shooting time.
Another Color Calibrator is a color correction tool. vvCalibrating the camera before shooting can better control the color output. This tool can help production teams complete shooting tasks more efficiently and reduce post-processing workload.
