On May 16, the first China-Romania Agricultural Science and Technology Park supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China was completed in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.

The Agricultural Science and Technology Park is jointly established by the Institute of Agricultural Environment and Sustainable Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Bucharest University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. Chinese Ambassador to Romania Jiang Yu, Minister of Research and Innovation of Romania Hurduk, and Rector of Bucharest Agricultural University Kempeanu attended the ceremony and delivered speeches respectively. Zhang Jian, Science and Technology Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Romania, Yang Qichang, Chairman of the National Smart Plant Factory Innovation Alliance, and Zhou Zengchan, Chief Engineer of Jingpeng Technology Co., Ltd. also attended the completion event.
Chinese journalists from Xinhua News Agency in Romania made real-time reports on relevant activities, as did Romanian TV and other news media.
Ambassador Jiang Yu said that scientific and technological innovation cooperation is an important part of the relationship between the two countries. Cooperation in the agricultural field has always been the "highlight" of bilateral scientific and technological innovation cooperation. It is hoped that through the science and technology park, we can organize coordinated research in the fields of facility agriculture and green and sustainable agriculture. To produce practical cooperation results as soon as possible, it is hoped that the Science and Technology Park will become a Sino-Romanian agricultural science and technology innovation center, a knowledge information exchange center, and a professional talent gathering and training center.
Minister Hurduk said that the completion of the Agricultural Science and Technology Park is a continuation of the traditional long-term scientific and technological cooperation relationship between the two sides, and it is also a new platform for the two sides to exchange experience and promote bilateral friendly relations. For Romania, cooperation with China in the field of science and technology is of strategic significance. He hoped that this science and technology park would become a demonstration project of agricultural science and technology cooperation between the two sides, and expected that the science and technology park would contribute new strengths to enhance the effectiveness of scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries.
The first China-Romania Agricultural Science and Technology Park is an important measure to implement the "Belt and Road" science and technology innovation action plan and the China-Central and Eastern European countries science and technology innovation partnership plan. The science and technology park is expected to promote the transfer and transformation of China's mature agricultural technology in Central and Eastern European countries through technical cooperation and technology demonstration, improve the innovation capability and industrialization level of Central and Eastern European countries in agricultural facilities, and achieve win-win cooperation between the two parties.
According to reports, the Agricultural Science and Technology Park includes smart LED plant factories and light and simplified energy-saving solar greenhouses.
The intelligent LED plant factory covers an area of 50 square meters. Using technologies such as LED energy-saving light sources and shallow liquid flow nutrient solution three-dimensional cultivation, the cultivation area can reach 150 square meters, with an annual output of 4,000 kilograms of leafy vegetables. The light and simplified energy-saving solar greenhouse covers an area of 500 square meters. It adopts technologies such as active heat storage and release for temperature adjustment, embedded soilless cultivation, etc., and can produce more than 8,000 kilograms of fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes per year.
