The average catch of Taiwanese saury in the past three years is 107,000 metric tons, with an output value of about NT$3.06 billion, accounting for 9.63% of the output value of Taiwan's distant-water fisheries. Every year from July to November, about 90 fishing boats go to the high seas of the North Pacific to catch saury, but the North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC) has implemented resource conservation and management measures since 2019. Setting the catch limit of each country is equivalent to limiting the upper limit of fishery revenue. How to increase profits under limited revenue, traditional distant-water fisheries must be more labor-saving and energy-saving. The research team took the lead in the development of "Intelligent LED Fish Collecting Lamps" and "Automated Saury Fish Body Sorting, Arranging and Handling System", and organized a technical service group for the Intelligent Fishing Alliance to create a new style of technology-based fishing in distant-water fisheries.

Due to the phototaxis of saury, fishermen will use fish-collecting lights to attract fish to the side of the boat and then release the net to catch them. High-intensity discharge (HID) lamps or incandescent lamps used in the past, due to light decay, the lamps and surrounding parts wear out very quickly. When returning to shore for maintenance every year, at least half of the lamps must be replaced, plus every The average consumption of fuel for this voyage is 600 kilograms, and up to 27% of it is used in fish-collecting lamps. The annual cost of this consumption is equivalent to 4.22 million RMB per ship, which indirectly squeezes the profit space of ship owners. In recent years, although Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea have successively replaced traditional lamps with high-power LED lamps to extend the service life, the high temperature generated by LED lamps cannot effectively dissipate heat, and the energy-saving effect is compromised. ENELTEC led the research and development to complete the "Intelligent LED Fish Set Lamp", which solved this thorny problem by using the temperature chamber and the fan. Compared with Japan and South Korea, the heat dissipation effect was increased by 40%, the weight was reduced by more than 70%, and the cost was reduced by more than 20%.

"In addition to reducing the fuel consumption of the lamps, we also install a temperature sensor and a time recorder in the lamp control chip to record the use time and temperature of each lamp and monitor the light decay ratio of each LED lamp. This determines whether the lamps need to be replaced, or if they can last for another year.” Shen Shengzhi, for example, when the captain finished catching fish and was about to return from Argentina, he could clearly see from the intelligent system that the efficiency of those lamps was already lower than 70%, so he could make an advance in advance. Notify the company to prepare materials, and they can be replaced immediately when the ship enters the port. There is no need to check the condition of each light, which improves the speed of ship docking and replenishment and annual maintenance efficiency.
