"Lighting is not just lighting", lighting can be said to be a carrier, a carrier of smart building home solutions. Mr. Yan Jungang used a video to demonstrate an ON Semiconductor's smart building home furnishing solution. The main composition of this solution is the mobile phone APP, which will send some commands to the Wifi or Bluetooth wireless module. What kind of wireless technology is used here? Or use a wired one, such as not a mobile phone, but a computer; second, a core device NCP31000, which is responsible for dimming, control, monitoring, protection, and other functions; the third LED driver chip, in addition to LED light strings, and visible light Communication receiver and a speaker.
Take the core device NCP31000 as an example, let’s take a look at the details of this solution. Its internal architecture first has two power modules. One is to supply power to the NCU and the other is to supply power to the sensors. In other words, some environmental detection and personnel can be added the detected sensors are inside, which explains that "lighting is not only lighting, it is a carrier." You can add many sensing functions and intelligent functions to the system based on lighting fixtures. The middle is the logic unit, which does some logic control, and the external is the interface. Another part is the analog front end, which is used for monitoring, detection, and protection. For the dimming part, the overall work efficiency can reach more than 97%, and a single chip basically aims at a driving power of about 100W. The dimming range supports 0 to 100% dimming, and the dimming accuracy is almost 0.1%. It can also support both analog and digital dimming. The entire product package is 7×7 size. It has integrated all monitoring, measurement, and protection functions, so with this chip, there is no need to add anything externally. There is an ADC conversion period inside, 100 milliseconds, and the upper computer can read the voltage, current, and temperature in real-time. The power consumption situation, based on these data, can even predict the life of the LED.
After the POE power supply is divided into two ways, one is to take the power after the network port transformer, and the other is the data on the network cable. It reaches the MCU through the Ethernet, so the power part first comes from the transformer. This application is about 90W. So at the level of 90W, the efficiency of the system will be more critical, so diode rectification is not recommended here. Then pass a POE 90W chip, because 31000 is used here, if 31010 is used, the POE interface is already integrated with it. So when it is running, the MCU will insert some commands, whether it is reading the operation of the calculator or dimming, output to the LED String, and the corresponding will be reflected on the LED side. In addition, in such a design, a simple POE-powered LED driver cannot become smart lighting, so many sensors are often superimposed on such a lamp. It doesn't matter if you don't use a POE power supply, traditional ACDC is also supported. Then we can also briefly review the background support of VLC. For white light lamps used in daily use, it is difficult to support hundreds of megabytes or even G, because the light-emitting mechanism is different. Common homes use blue LED lamps with dimming. The signal is reflected in the light, and there is actually a delay, so here the data rate of our VLC is KBS level.
Regarding the PoE power supply, around the end of 2018 and early 2019, after the promulgation of the PoE 90W standard, ON Semiconductor believes that it will usher in rapid growth. , Because many devices have data connection requirements, and because its power and power consumption may be tens of watts, the old POE standard cannot be used. In addition to the network cable connection, a separate power adapter is required, so the 90W After the standard is released, many devices can be switched to directly use only one network cable for power supply. For example, 5G small base stations, Wifi enterprise-class routers, advertising light boxes, lighting, and so on.
Among all the fields of POE applications, in terms of growth rate, the fastest growing and most potential segmented application market is POE lighting. According to third-party reports, it can basically reach a compound annual growth rate of about 30%, which is quite impressive. Mr. Yan Jungang mentioned that the most fundamental purpose of investing in Poe power supply technology is twofold: one is to save money and improve efficiency from the perspective of asset owners, and the other is to improve convenience for users.
