On February 27th, the Hubei Provincial High-level Administration revealed that the highway tunnels in the province were inspected for safety and the upgrades were completed before the end of 2020.
This year, the Ministry of Transport will issue the “Guidelines for the Upgrade of Tunnels and Upgrades”. Hubei Province plans to find out the hidden dangers of highway tunnels during the year and start rectification next year. The focus of rectification is the lighting, safety protection, ventilation, civil works and other related facilities that the passengers are most concerned about.
In terms of lighting, most of the highway tunnels in Hubei Province use high-pressure sodium lamps. The lights are dim. When the vehicles enter the tunnel, the driver's eyes are not suitable. In the transformation, all the LED lights will be replaced, the light will be bright and dark, and then the light will be dark to bright. The entrance and exit should be consistent with the brightness of the light outside the hole; all the protective steel plates will be installed at the entrance and exit of the tunnel to prevent the vehicle from directly hitting the wall and buffering, to reduce accidents and casualties.
It is understood that this special action will be implemented in three steps. This year, the investigation will be completed. The classification will be carried out before September next year, and the item will be eliminated one by one. The final three months will be evaluated and further improved.
