Recently, the US state of Washington Tacoma University of Puget Sound has been completed to replace 250W high pressure sodium lamp LED lights. Compared to the previous high-pressure sodium lamp, each LED lamp consumes only 54W, can save 78% of electricity. University of Puget Sound facility services estimate that each switch 62 lights will save 63,400 kWh per year. Energy efficiency return from Tacoma Public Utilities will pay the cost of the project covering 97 acres campus area of up to 70%.
In view of the refurbishment of buildings and public spaces, University of Puget Sound also plans to use its indoor lighting LED lights. Last summer Wheelock Student Center Marshall Hall has completed efficiency metal halide and halogen lamps to LED conversion is said to be able to reduce 77% of lighting energy consumption.
