The city of North Palmerston, New Zealand, recently invested $ 605,000 to the project of city LED street lighting replacement. Many lighting in the city have expired, causing not only great inconvenience for the public to travel at night, but also a lot of security risks.
New replaced LED street lamps can achieve 70% energy efficiency, while reducing 80% of maintenance costs, with service life of up to 50,000 hours (can be used about 12.5 years), whereas the previous fluorescent tubes need to be replaced after using 6000 hours (approximately 1.5 years ).
