In order to build a strong forest ecological security barrier and effectively curb the spread of forestry pests and diseases, the Forestry Development Center of Nanle County, Puyang City, Henan Province, recently fully launched forestry insecticidal lamps, using physical prevention and control methods to start a new practice of green prevention and control. As the temperature rises, forestry pests enter a high-incidence period. Through the environmental protection measure of "lights instead of medicines", while protecting forest resources, it plays a harmonious movement of ecological protection and green development.
I. Green prevention and control: technology empowers the protection of forest health
As the main body of the terrestrial ecosystem, forests are crucial to regulating climate, maintaining water and soil, and maintaining biodiversity. Recently, with the rise in spring temperatures, the insect population density in some forest areas of Nanle County has increased significantly, and various pests and diseases pose a threat to the growth of trees. In order to reduce the impact of chemical pesticides on the environment, the county forestry development center actively changed its prevention and control ideas and built a "physical prevention and control network" based on 35 forestry insecticidal lamps. From April 8 to 11, forest fire prevention technicians conducted centralized maintenance on insecticidal lamps throughout the county to ensure that the equipment was put into use in the best condition.
II. Initial results: Insect monitoring data witnesses the effectiveness of prevention and control
As of April 14, all insecticidal lamps have been operating stably and normally for a week. On that day, technicians monitored 3 red-bellied white moths in the insecticidal lamps in the forest park, which was significantly lower than the number of insects in the same period before, and the frequency of pest activities in the forest area was significantly reduced. This data directly reflects the positive effect of physical prevention and control measures on curbing the spread of pests and reducing the risk of forest damage. "Insectic lamps use light waves to trap adult insects, reduce the mating and reproduction of pests from the source, which is both accurate and environmentally friendly, and is an important tool for ecological prevention and control."
III. Long-term governance: Building a three-dimensional defense line of "monitoring-management-publicity"
Nanle County Forestry Center will establish a dynamic monitoring mechanism for the operation of insecticidal lamps, regularly collect insect data, scientifically evaluate the prevention and control effects, and adjust strategies in time according to the types of pests and their occurrence patterns. At the same time, through popular science lectures, door-to-door publicity and other forms, green prevention and control knowledge is popularized to the surrounding people, guiding the public to participate in forest resource protection, forming a prevention and control pattern of "government-led, scientific and technological support, and participation by all people."
