Cree LEDs Explosion Proof LED Light is suitable for oil refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, onshore and offshore plants, factories, fuel depots and fuel tanker loading and unloading areas. This explosion proof LED light has been coated with a special layer of clear Darcom to increase waterproofing and prevent corrosion, particularly for offshore and coastal applications.

Whilst the spec shows that this explosion proof LED light operates off 220Vac, it actually has a wide operating voltage range from 90 to 260Vac at 50/60Hz. The 230S is an industrial LED light with builtin multi-protection; it has a constant current driver with short-circuit and over-voltage protection. This heavy industrial LED light is intrinsically safe and is suitable for installation in zones 1, 2 (gas), 21 and 22 (dust) as per EN 60079.14 (BS EN 60079-10:2009, IEC79-10)
The standards to which the Explosion Proof LED Light 230S has been tested are: IEC60079-0, IEC60079-1 and IEC60079-31. The housing has specifically been tested according to standards EN60068-2-30 (hot, humid cycles) and EN60068-2-11 (Salt mist tests) and the additional darcom coating is over and above these requirements. The housing is made from copper-free aluminium which is epoxy powder coated, a tempered glass cover with an aluminium shade ring and stainless steel external hardware. The tempered glass is made from shock and temperature resistant borosilicate and the gaskets are acid, hydrocarbon resistant silicone gaskets. Double locking screws are used on the casings to prevent any joints vibrating loose.
The cable entry is a G3/4″ thread suitable for 10 to 14mm diameter cables. The terminal wires are not more than 2.5mm sq. and the installation can be ceiling, pendant, bracket, wall, fence or flange mounted. The recommended installation height is 6m and the distance is 8m.
